Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

New Expanded 8th edition with new photos and text.
An epic study demonstrating the importance of whole food nutrition, and the degeneration and destruction that comes from a diet of processed foods.
For nearly 10 years, Weston Price and his wife traveled around the world in search of the secret to health. Instead of looking at people afflicted with disease symptoms, this highly-respected dentist and dental researcher chose to focus on healthy individuals, and challenged himself to understand how they achieved such amazing health. Dr. Price traveled to hundreds of cities in a total of 14 different countries in his search to find healthy people. He investigated some of the most remote areas in the world. He observed perfect dental arches, minimal tooth decay, high immunity to tuberculosis and overall excellent health in those groups of people who ate their indigenous foods. He found when these people were introduced to modernized foods, such as white flour, white sugar, refined vegetable oils and canned goods, signs of degeneration quickly became quite evident. Dental caries, deformed jaw structures, crooked teeth, arthritis and a low immunity to tuberculosis became rampant amongst them. Dr. Price documented this ancestral wisdom including hundreds of photos in his book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
The Privilege of Helping People Return to Their Physical Life
Lacking the same physical abilities they had previously, a patient may get the recommendation of therapy from their doctor. Patients who experience less physical activity may have difficulty performing the regular activities of daily living. Limited range of motion may occur in limbs or other body parts affected by illness or injury. These physical disabilities can be helped by physical therapy assistants.
Physical therapy assistants go through a training program which teaches the different ways the body and its individual parts move. Anatomy and physiology are an important part of the program designed to teach various exercises capable of helping individuals with the physical problems they are experiencing. Physical therapy offers wonderful treatments to patients which will help them return a happy physical lifestyle.
Physicians recommend physical therapy to all patients they feel can benefit from the therapy. A physical therapist will assess each individual patient and determine a program involving various exercises and activities which can assist the patient overcome their physical handicaps. Physical therapy assistants follow the program designed by the therapist helping patients perform each exercise properly. Assistants in physical therapy will help individuals with the exercise initially if the patient is unable to complete the exercise on their own. As the patient progresses through the treatment and becomes stronger, the assistant will then monitor the patient’s progress. Physical therapy assistants have the important responsibility of reporting patient conditions and progress to the physical therapist noting any changes, improvements, or setbacks the patient may have in order to keep the program on track providing the best help and highest quality of care for the patient.
Assistants are in charge of the majority of the direct patient care in the therapies. They have the benefit of getting to know their patients and assist with the exercises and activities recommended. Physical therapy assistants can perform the exercises on patients unable to do it themselves which will help to slow down the debilitation process. Patients who are in a comatose state can benefit from physical therapy assistants who provide exercise to their limbs which can keep the limbs from becoming victim to atrophy which is the medical term used for when muscles loose their physical properties making them useless.
There are many different careers in the health care field. As a physical therapy assistant an individual has the opportunity to get to know patients, helping them return to the physical condition they had prior to illness or injury. Exercises, observing progress and changes, and communicating with the therapist are only some of the responsibilities a physical therapy assistant will find themselves in charge of handling. This is the career path that individuals should choose if they desire employment in health care and possess the skills and abilities to help patients overcome their physical challenges.
